Shepard Fairey

Shepard Fairey was born on February 15, 1970 in Charleston, SC. Fairey became involved with art in 1984, when he started to place his drawings on skateboards and T-shirts. He became a contemporary graphic designer and illustrator after emerging from the skateboarding scene. Shepard Fairey shot to national fame as the graphic artist behind a 2008 iconic poster of a Barack Obama portrait labeled simply “HOPE”.
