After graduating from college in 1949 he moved to NYC and began a career as one of the most honored commercial artists of the 1950’s. In the late 1950’s Andy Warhol began devoting more attention to painting, and in 1961, he debuted the concept of “pop art” and became a leading artist of the 1960’s Pop art movement. In 1964, Warhol opened his own art studio, a large silver-painted warehouse known simply as “The Factory.” In the 1970s, Warhol began expanding into new artistic mediums such as sculpture and photography.
